Dream Big, Have Courage, Achieve Success

One For All, All For One is all about who we are and what we want to be along with supporting people to achieve their goal. It is rightly said that people who achieve success were the ones who believed in themselves and their dreams. Having no dream in life is same as working like a vehicle moving on a road without knowing its destination. Having dreams makes a person more thoughtful and encourages him/her to pursue it in their life. It not only boosts the self-confidence in that person, but also imbibes in them a sense of satisfaction each time a part of their dream is accomplished, because small accomplishments leads to success.

Either I will come back after hoisting the Tricolor, or I will come back wrapped in it, but I will be back for sure. – Capt. Vikram Batra, PVC (posthumous)

I once was in deep conversation with a Major from the Indian Army, many summers ago. We spoke of his experiences in Kashmir valley where he was stationed at that time. What struck me the most about this young man’s narration of his experiences was the sincerity and love in serving the Kashmiris despite his stories being riddled with tales of treachery and suspicion and being perceived to be ‘occupiers’ of ‘another’s’ land.

"Indian Army"

In an odd but fundamental way, most Indians love the Indian Army, but refuse to analyse it. We adhere to the separation of civil society and army so strictly that we do not look at the strains, tensions and challenges our army is facing. The army is a value creating institution. The old ideal of unity and diversity was achieved only by one institution -- the army. It used ethnicity and tradition to create a national unity. Where else can you summon Sikhs, Gurkhas Jats, Rajasthanis, Marathas and use their different traditions and create an elaborate unity.

The Strike Back...

It was the year of 2016. One one hand, India was scaling great heights, with multitudinous achievements to claim. The economy performed well with GDP growth forecast of over 7%, we overtook US in terms of number of internet users, the world's largest solar power plant was unveiled in Tamil Nadu and the list goes on. Among all these multifarious milestones, a grievous predicament was plaguing our motherland. Our mettlesome soldiers guarding our borders were recurrently attacked at their camps by incendiaries from across the frontier, the latest being the attack by four heavily armed militants on 18 September 2016, near the town of Uri in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It was reported as "the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades".
