Sepoy Rajesh Khatri (27) belonged to Torayan village in Dailekh district of Nepal. He was serving in 5/9 GR Unit of Indian Army. He was among the four soldiers who were injured when Pakistani troops opened fire on the army post along the line of control on 20th September 2017.
Sniper attack: 20 Sep 2017
On the 20th September, Wednesday, the Indian army soldiers were targeted by Pakistani troops at their ‘Pimple Post’ in Kupwara’s Keran sector. During the daytime around at 9.30 am, the Pakistani troops had launched the sniper attack and started heavy firing at an army patrol along the line of control. In the Process of exchanging of fire, four army soldiers of 5/9 GR Unit, were severely injured.
Immediately they were taken to the Army’s 92-Base Hospital at Badami Bagh Cantonment, Srinagar through the helicopter, however, Sepoy Rajesh Khatri succumbed to his injuries on the way itself. Sepoy Rajesh laid down his life while protecting the sovereignty of India and has attained martyrdom in the highest tradition of Indian army.
Sepoy Rajesh Khatri (27) is survived by his wife Deepa Khatri.
