Disregarding his own personal safety, Maj K P R Hari crawled through the
boulders over a stiff cliff and destroyed the enemy Heavy Machine Gun sangar
and killed two enemy personnel. On 06 July 1999 Major K P R Hari Had
launched a two pronged attack at a height of 16,800 feet in Jubar Top
Batalik Sector, under heavy enemy artillery and small area fire. By
crawling, he reached 50 meters short of the enemy danger and in a swift and
bold maneuver closed in with the enemy along with six men continuously
firing and lobbing grenades. In a maneuver closed in with the enemy, he
killed two enemy soldiers who were engaging the advancing troops. The enemy
sensing immediate capture withdrew leaving huge quantity of arms, ammunition
and equipment and the post was captured at 05:00 hours without any casualty.
Major K P R Hari then along with another officer kept the momentum of the
attack and captured Jubar Main by 18:00 hours. Major KPR Hari displayed
initiative, bold action, indomitable courage, strong determination and
exceptional leadership. For the heroic act Major KPR Hari was awarded Vir
Chakra.
